Steven began serving as Morningside's Senior Pastor in July of 2016 after an eight-year senior pastorate at Enoree First Baptist Church. Previously, he had served as a youth and children's minister for nine years. Steven has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Winthrop University and a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry and Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Raised in Union, South Carolina, Steven was baptized and felt called to ministry while at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church. He was ordained to the gospel ministry at Lockhart First Baptist Church.
Steven has a passion to see established churches revitalized through a renewed emphasis on Christ and His Word. He desires to proclaim the full counsel of the Bible to God's people so they can allow Christ, as a Shepherd, lead them.
He and his wife, Caroline, are thankful to be serving Morningside. They and their four children have established their home on the east side of Spartanburg.

Jack C. Dodds became our Associate Pastor at Morningside in October, 1996. He is a native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and a graduate of Indiana University. He earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jack served churches in Indiana, Virginia, and Georgia before coming to Morningside. He and his wife, Ruth, have four grown children: Jason, Nathan, Catherine, and Rebekah.
Jack seeks to develop an educational program where every member and guest at Morningside feels welcome and the study of God's word is life-changing. It is his goal to help us reach, teach, win, and develop persons for Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Jack seeks to ensure that every need we may have in the area of education, discipleship, and missions is fulfilled.

Freida Cole began serving as Children's Pastor at Morningside in November 2016. She and her husband, Danny, both grew up in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Freida earned her undergraduate degree in Religious Eduction at Gardner-Webb University and her Master of Arts in Christian Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by Edwards Road Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, and has served churches in Georgia, North Carolina, and the Upstate of South Carolina.
Freida also currently serves as Greenville Area Team Coach for Marketplace Chaplains, USA and regularly ministers to employees in multiple local businesses in the Upstate. Freida has a desire to see the local church become a vital, relevant community of faith that seeks to share Chrit's love with others and develop growing disciples who make disciples for Him. She wants to help the church make a world-changing impact on the lives of children and families in our area.

Steve became our permanent Youth Director in September 2016. Steve and his wife, Kimberly, have three children. Steve's goal is the help every youth Thrive as they seek to grow in their knowledge of Christ, serve the community of Spartanburg, and share their gifts and talents to glorify God in their everyday lives.

Robert began serving as Worship Director at Morningside in July of 2017. He is a graduate of Wofford College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. After graduation, he began a career in criminal justice at the SC Dept. of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services, where he served for 35 years, retiring as Deputy Director.
Robert has spent his adult life serving in music ministry. He has extensive musical training in voice and is an experienced choral leader. He has sung in oratorios, operas, musical theater and sacred music in both Carolinas. He previously served as Director of Music Ministry at Northbrook Baptist Church, Soloist/Section Leader at Central United Methodist Church, and as a subsitiute director for several area churches. His vision is for all aspects of the worship service to prepare worshipers to receive God's Word and to be disciples for Christ in our community and the world. He and his wife, Beth, have two children: Laura and Johathan.

Paula joined the Morningside staff as organist in January 2001. She also directs the Clarion Sounds handbell choir. She and her husband, Harold, lead the Golden Tones, our church senoir adult choir.

Mside Preschool Director
Debbie Bishop was named Preschool Director in November 2016. She previously served as Interim Director since January 2016 and as the 3K assistant beginning August 2013. Debbie has worked in preschool education with all ages of children for thirty-eight years. She enjoys teaching the children about Christ's love. Her desire is to plant a seed of faith in the children's hearts so that through nurturing they may become strong Christian leaders.
